Hytera Mobilfunk supports the 24-hour sponsored run in Hanover
Twenty-four hours, 209 participants, 548.5 laps, 3480 kilometers run and a total of 2264 euros raised - these impressive figures were reported by the Hannover Runners following a 24-hour sponsored run around the Maschsee on 9th and 10th June. The Maschsee is located in the heart of Hanover and is a popular local recreation site and events venue in the center of the Lower Saxony capital. Hytera Mobilfunk GmbH supported this brilliant charity fund-raiser by providing the organizing volunteers with a set of Hytera Power446 handheld radios.
This enabled the Hannover Runners to communicate easily with each other during the run, even from opposite sides of the Maschsee, ensuring that all the runners were safely on track at all times. The runners faced a number of challenges: They were running the six-kilometer circuit day and night, in hot and cold weather, and sometimes even in rain. The Hytera handheld radios therefore proved themselves extremely useful: For example, several runners were alone on the circuit at night, but could keep in constant contact with their base thanks to the radios.
Handbikers and wheelchair users also took part in the run - the money they raised will go towards "Kinder in Bewegung" (Children in motion), a charity committed to encouraging child development through exercise. For the first time, the 24-hour sponsored run featured a 24-hour team event. Four teams committed to complete the route with at least one runner on the go for the whole run. The Hannover Runners also organized a fun day for children and a children's run.
The Hannover Runners club now has over 150 members and is involved in promoting running for all age groups and fitness levels. The club currently organizes four running groups and a fitness group for stability and flexibility training, all of which meet on a regular basis.
