Hytera at the Radio Communication Conference in Milan

Print article

The future-oriented topic broadband and perspectives for mission-critical communication in Italy and the world defined the conference “Radio communication for security” on April 8 at the Polytechnical University in Milan. Right in the middle of things: the Hytera Mobilfunk GmbH team responsible for Italy with Hytera’s latest broadbandproducts and solutions.

This conference for manufacturers, distributors, system integrators, and users was entitled “LTE for public safety and mission critical” and it proved very popular. 300 participants came to the Aula Magna on the Bovisa Campus in order to inform themselves, discuss, and learn more about innovations in mission-critical radio networks, the market development of the PMR industry, and the current state of the standardization process.

Broadband solutions for Italy

The Italian government has decided that in the future, it will rely heavily on broadband technology for mission and deployment-critical communication. “The goal is to equip all of Italy with an LTE system in the 1800 MHz frequency range by 2028; this system will be used primarily to organize public safety,” explains Gerold Geipert, Vice President Italy for Hytera Mobilfunk GmbH about the large project. Italian end users also demonstrated great interest during the conference. “The need for PMR applications that can only be implemented with LTE technology now and 5G in the future is growing constantly in the public safety sector. At the same time, the focus is on how to migrate existing PMR networks (analog, DMR, and TETRA) and how to integrate them if necessary,” says Davide Malizia, Sales Manager for Italy at Hytera Mobilfunk.

Optimal migration to broadband with Hytera

With appropriate infrastructure, innovative hand-held radio devices, and matching software products, Hytera offers perfectly-attuned, comprehensive solutions for precisely this case. For example, conference participants were able to inform themselves about Hytera's innovative multi-mode hand radio devices, the PTC760 (LTE/TETRA) and the PDC760 (LTE/DMR), the convergent TETRA/LTE system solution, and the new PoC devices and bodycams.

Many visitors also showed great interest in the Hytera ad hoc system ES-100 for quick, reliable communication in case of catastrophe. “Thank you very much for this great conference, which was also extremely well-organized again this year. It is one of the most important events for the PMR sector in Italy,” said Davide Malizia after the conference was over.
